Summer Playlist Week 3: The Big Lebowski, Bob Dylan, and Cream

Summer Playlist Week 3: The Big Lebowski, Bob Dylan, and Cream

I finally saw The Big Lebowski for the first time a few weeks ago, I know I am way late to the party. My brother and I were curled up on the couch at my mom’s house looking for something to watch and he suggested The Big Lebowski as we scrolled through Netflix and OnDemand options. Truth be told, I had no idea what it was about. I just knew it was a classic movie that I had heard about for years and should have probably already seen by now. He told me I would like it because of the soundtrack and that the main character is a lot like our dad, so I told him to press play.

He was right, the opening scene where “the Dude” is walking through the grocery store to get milk for his White Russians made me reach for my glasses to check that it wasn’t Roc on camera. 1998 Jeff Bridges in this role looks like he was modeled after 2017 Roc Frost (well I guess it would be the other way around but if you know my dad you know the resemblance and his temperament is uncanny to my dad’s when he is in a good mood). He was right about the soundtrack too.

It’s probably not just mine, or my brother Rory’s favorite scene, but the music and Jeff Bridges twangy dancing is just too good not to highlight and that’s why it’s the first song on this week’s 10 songs to add to your summer playlist. Check it out on the growing With Wildflowers Summer playlist.
