Easy Summer Makeup

Easy Summer Makeup

I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup during the summer. It’s hot, it’s sunny, and I just want something to wear that will protect my face and make me look a little better. I like a foundation with SPF in it year round but during summer I like it to be really strong which is why I finally tried the It Cosmetics foundations. (They have an SPF of 50 whereas my other favorites are usually just around 20.)

When I first ordered the CC cream I chose “Light” because I looked like the pale blonde model wearing it, but when I tried it the color was way too dark for me. I started mixing it with my Maybelline Fit in 110 or 115, or L’Oreal True Match in Fair to make it lighter for my skin tone.

(Side note: A couple weeks ago I took the plunge and tried the St. Tropez self tanner and finally didn’t look blotchy and orange so I have been using that and the darker It CC cream works perfectly with my new tan.)

For my easy and natural looking summer makeup I build everything off of the foundation and like to keep it simple.

The Products:

-It Cosmetics CC Cream in “Light”

-Milani Concealer

-Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer in “Milk Chocolate”

-MILK MAKEUP Lip + Cheek Blush stick in “Rally”

L.A. Girl Velvet Contour Stick Highlighter

-Buxom Full-On Lip Stick in “Acapulco”

-Physicians Formula Super CCC Correct + Conceal + Cover Powder SPF 30 in “Light/Medium”

  1. Start with a clean face and a primer if you like (I like the e.l.f. Hydrating one) and dab a pump of the CC cream onto your fingers and dot it around your face.

You can apply this with whatever brush or sponge or applicator you prefer but I like a flat top brush to really smooth it out and spread it around because it is kind of thick to begin with.

  1. Once the CC cream is evenly applied go in with some concealer around the side of your nostrils, under your eyes, the chin and forehead in between your brows.

I haven’t learned how to do all the contouring and highlighting and all the crazy application methods that look like you’re set for a festival before you even blend, but after watching a handful of YouTube tutorials, I decided to use a few dots of concealer on these key spots and I actually like the subtle way it lightens up my face, especially around the sides of the nostrils.

  1. Fill in brows with a couple strokes of brow mascara.

While I let everything set for a little I go in and do my brows. I have never had them shaped or tinted or anything and like to keep it pretty low maintenance but still like them to be defined. I’ve tried a handful of brow powders and gels and my favorites were “Queen of The Fill” and “Gimme Brow” until I tried the NYX one and it is my daily go-to. A couple swipes of this going upward with my brow and they are filled in and a bit darker but still look natural and they last all day.

  1. Apply bronzer under cheekbones and blend it up to temples with an angled blush brush.

I have a few favorite bronzers. Two are Physicians Formula (Butter Bronzer, and Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting) and the other is the Too Faced Chocolate Soliel which I have been using all the time since a Sephora makeup artist used it on me when I got my makeup done for a wedding. It smells so so good and is really natural looking for pale skin.

  1. Dab blush onto the apples of your cheeks and blend in with finger tips.

I bought the MILK blush stick on a whim after everyone was so obsessed with the packaging and I really love it. It doubles as a lipstick which is perfect if you only want to have a few staple products and it blends really nicely.

  1. Glide a stick highlighter over the top of your cheekbones and blend it in with fingers or flat brush.

I got this on Amazon and love the color and subtle shimmer but another favorite is the Clinique Chubby Stick highlighter which is very similar and blends seamlessly.

I like a creamy stick blush and highlighter a lot during the summer because they feel light and natural on your skin and they don’t sweat off.

  1. Choose your favorite pink lip color to tie it all together.

Since the majority of this look is very neutral I like to add a pink lip for it to stand out and add a little color to my face because the blush is so subtle.

  1. Finish everything off with a fluffy brush covered in powder on your t-zone to hold it in place and add extra sun protection.

I like to use an SPF powder on my t-zone and eye lids and if I want a more finished look I will throw on some black mascara. I don’t like to wear mascara a lot (mostly because I hate taking it off and because I forget I’m wearing it and rub my eyes) unless I am going out for the night or doing something more festive.

What are your go-to products for a natural summer look?

  • I have been wanting to try those MILK blushes… Do you just swipe it on your face or do you use a brush with it?

  • Hey Amanda! I kind of dap the stick onto the apples of my cheeks and either blend it in with my fingers or my flat foundation brush around the edges for a more subtle look!

  • Do you find the CC cream to slide off a lot? I really liked it for a few hours but I started to get all sweaty and it wasn’t lasting. Love the rest of these recommendations, I am going to have to check out that highlighter stick. I have been using powders and want to try something new.

  • It does slide off sometimes when I get really sweaty but I don’t get sunburned so enough of it seems to stay on. I also set it with powder and I think that helps hold it in place!

  • love the IT Cosmetics CC Cream it’s so amazing! I swear a little bit of that stuff makes your skin so glowy and perfect. xx Lara

  • I watched the infomercial so many times and then finally got it when I saw so many people liking it. The coloring is tricky if you are pale, I had to mix with but it covers so nicely and definitely makes your skin feel good! Let me know if you try it out 🙂

  • Yeah! I took a while to finally try it and am so happy I did! I really like this one the best of brands that I have tried. The only down side is finding the perfect color, I have to mix them. Glad you like the post!!

  • I agree Lara! I took forever to finally try it and now it is my perfect go-to to look great and not have to do a lot. Thanks for reading! 🙂
